Dimitrios Menemenlis was graduated from the Hellenic Fire Academy, as a Fire Second Lieutenant (2007). He obtained his MSc in “Analysis and Management of manmade and natural disasters (2017)”, and he is a PhD student (since 2018) in the Department of Geography of the University of the Aegean, entitled “Prediction and management of fire risk with modern simulation models and total quality management in suburban forests (WUI) on the island of Rhodes, Greece“. He also studies his 2nd BSc in the Department of Forest and Natural Environment Sciences of the International Hellenic University since 2022 and he works as a Fire Major to Rhodes – Greece.
Has participated as a member of the Greek subgroup in the program “STREAMS -2- SUPPRESS FIRES – Utilizing Stream waters in the Suppressions of Forest Fires with the help of New Technologies” which belongs to the program EU INTERREG IV “Black Sea Basin Joint Operational Program 2007-2013, and in the program “IN-PREP” – EU Horizon 2020 (H2020 / 2014-2020).
He specializes in risk analysis and disaster management from Floods and Wildfires, especially in suburban – Wildland Urban Interface areas.
